The next time you plan your trip to the City of Brotherly Love you might want to check online, especially if you get your internet through places like XO Communications at t1internet.com, a Tier 1 Provider. With so many things to do, you’ll need to do your research. However, if you are really pressed for time, we have a short list of the best places and events in Philly so take a look and see what stands out.

Philadelphia International Flower Show
If it’s in season and you want to see some truly remarkable sights then you ought to take a look at this fantastic show. Flowers of all kinds are arranged to create some truly phenomenal fantasy worlds of color.

Van Gogh Up Close at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Unappreciated and ridiculed in his time, Van Gogh could never have known how much the world would come to treasure both his life and his work. Pay due tribute to the man whose genius was far too ahead of his time by attending this one-of-a-kind gallery.

Zoe Strauss: Ten Years at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
We often think that art has to be pretty, heavenly and awe-inspiring but the best art is gritty and raw. It comes from a very real place in life and in our souls and the photography of Zoe Strauss exemplifies this.

Valley Forge is one of the most important historical sites in American history. Eighteenth century armies rarely fought in the winter, instead they encamped until the spring thaw. In the winter of 1777 and 1778, George Washington’s battered Continental army encamped at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.

Many died during the harsh winter, but Washington, with the help of a colorful former Prussian military officer, Baron Frederick von Steuban, managed to turn the ragged army into an effective fighting force. The Continental Army later went on to win the Revolutionary War.

Visiting Valley Forge is something that every American should do. It was here that the independence of our nation was secured. For the history buff, there are guided tours of the area or they are free to bicycle around the park. For those interested in archaeology, they can volunteer to help screen artifacts taken from sites around the park. There are special educational activities for young children, as well.

Valley Forge is a great attraction with activities for the entire family. Not only is it entertaining, but it is important for every American to know and honor how their country came into being, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice here. Can’t get enough? There’s more: Whistle Solo

If you are new to Pennsylvania you have a lot to learn. They is so much history in the area and you will be able to see all the things you learned about in your history books. Transportation is easy and many times you can take a train or bus to get where you need to go.

Planning a trip to see the liberty bell is a fun one day trip. There are lots of interesting things to see around the immediate area. Weekends are less crowded and most sites are open. Pack a lunch or buy something in the nearby restaurants. Pretzels, peanuts and chocolate are popular with the locals and tourists both. The summer is warm and the winters will be cold enough to dress for very cold weather.

Independence National Park is home to the liberty bell. It is now in its own glass building. It is open year around and the hours vary. Check ahead before you go. The line can be long but the wait will be short. Plan on staying around to see Independence hall while you are there. Tickets are free, but on a first come basis. Independence visitor center offers videos, pictures and other interesting things for your enjoyment. This is a must see for all visitors and newcomers to the area.

Franklin Square in Philadelphia has been newly renovated and is more family friendly than ever before. Franklin Square is one of the five original squares located in Philadelphia and has now dedicated itself to providing a fun and friendly atmosphere for families. The new renovations were worth it and it makes this area a must see for anyone living or visiting the city of Brotherly Love.

One of the main attractions located in Franklin Square is the liberty themed carousel. It looks incredible and provides cheap entertainment and rides for the entire family. Since Philadelphia was once housed three of the biggest carousel making factories in the world, it is only fitting that Franklin Square has an incredible carousel located there.

The entire family will enjoy playing on the 18 hole Philly inspired mini golf course. The holes are made to represent important landmarks and features of Philadelphia. For people looking to take a little break from the fun there are two playgrounds located within Franklin Square that will provide all sorts of fun.

A visit to Franklin Square would not be complete without a meal and SquareBurger has become incredibly popular with the locals. While eating it is also a great idea to visit the Franklin Square Fountain and Living Flame Memorial.
